Etowah,
Tenn.,
to
ride
the
ex-L&N
“Hook
&
Eye”
line
from
the
junction
with
the
CSX
main
line
near
Etowah
17
miles
east
along
the
Hiwassee
River
and
return.
Parking
for
people
driving
their
own
cars
is
at
the
Gee
Creek
State
Park
.
There
are
signs
to
the
park
off
of
US-411
south
of
Etowah.
The
train
boarding
area
is
across
the
street
from
the
parking
lot.
Departure
will
be
at
10:00
AM.
Directions
to
Gee
Creek
State
Park:
We
are
boarding
at
the
Gee
Creek
Campground
of
the
Hiwassee
River
State
Park.
-
As
you
come
South
out
of
Etowah
you
will
go
through
a
construction
area
and
then
the
highway
will
become
four
lane.
You
will
pass
a
Mr.
Zip
and
the
Deleno
Post
office
on
the
right.
-
As
you
start
down
the
hill
to
the
Hiwassee
River
you
will
see
a
Brown
Sign
saying
Gee
Creek
Campground
with
an
arrow
to
the
left.
-
Turn
down
the
narrow
winding
road
which
is
called
Spring
Creek
Road.
If
you
get
to
the
Hiwassee
you
have
gone
about
two
streets
too
far
(its
only
about
200
yards
too
far).

Park
in
the
Ranger
station
parking
lot
which
is
on
the
right
across
from
where
we
board.
