1945 Pullman Standard Rebuilt Low Side Gondola

 

Prototype History:

Southern rostered a large fleet of low sided gondolas. The model represents Pullman Standard 11 rib gondolas rebuilt in 1945 (series 118750 – 119749, 288000 – 288249, and 316000 – 316249). These cars were in revenue service from 1945 till the 1970’s, and maintenance service till the 1980’s.  Click Here for more historical information.

Smoky Mountain Model Works developed the kit with 3D CAD/Solid Modeling design and rapid prototyping techniques, based on drawings from SRHA’s collection. The result is a highly detailed kit with unparalleled accuracy.

The Kit Features:

  • One piece urethane body casting with weight, and a separate underfame casting

  • Interior details including fold down stake pockets and inverse dreadnaught ends

  • Grab irons, stirrups, and AB brake parts included

  • Choice of either Roman or Block Lettering ALPS decals

  • Era appropriate Tichy trucks, JayBee metal wheels, and Kadee #46 couplers
