Chattanooga, Tennessee, May 18th -

The SRHA returns
to Chattanooga for its 26th annual
convention. Once again, TVRM and
the Chattanooga Choo-Choo will be
our hosts for this year’s
convention. We will be treated to
train rides and tours during the
weekend.
As we begin on
Friday with our presentations, we
are going to have something new
this year —a Favorite Photo
Contest. We are asking you to
bring your favorite SR photo and
the convention attendees will be
asked to vote on their favorite
picture at the contest. See

photo contest.
Passes for free
trolley rides and tours of the
model railroad at the Choo-Choo
will also be provided.
On Saturday, we
will depart the Choo-Choo by train
and tour the NS diesel shops, and
ride past DeButts yard as we go to
Grand Junction Depot. There we
will depart for Chickamauga for an
afternoon on the train. TVRM hopes
to provide us authentic Southern
Railway coaches and a dining car
that will be pulled by SR GP-30
2594 for an all Southern consist.
Did I say dining car? Yes, lunch
is included in our trip.
After we return to
the Choo-Choo on Saturday, we will
have our annual membership meeting
where $50 gift certificates to the
Grab will be awarded to the photo
contest winners, results of the
elections to SRHA Board of
Directors will be announced, a
report will be made on the status
of the SRHA, and a special guest
speaker will make a presentation.
Sunday morning we
will tour TVRM’s East Chattanooga
shops and get a chance to see the
work being done on `4501 as she
nears completion of her overhaul.

Of course our
hotel is the famous Chattanooga
Choo-Choo. Our annual
membership meeting will be held
there as well as our departures on
TVRM on Saturday. Make you

Contest Rules:
Since the
Southern Railway was merged with
the Norfolk & Western Railroad in
1982, all photos in the “Favorite
Photo Contest” must be dated prior
to 1/1/1983. You do not have to be
the original owner of the photo as
this is just a favorite photo
contest and no photos will be
published. The winners will be
determined by popular vote of the
attendees of the 2012 SRHA
Convention in Chattanooga, TN, by
a ballot that will be counted by
members of the Board of Directors
prior to the annual membership
meeting on Saturday night.
Categories are
(1) SR Structures, (2) SR Steam,
and (3) SR Diesel. Any photos that
do not meet the above criteria of
date and category will not be
included in the contest. All
photos will be returned and should
be 8” x 10” in size and in a
frame. The SRHA will provide a
table and stands for display.
At the annual
membership meeting, the winner of
each category will be awarded a
$50 gift certificate to the GRAB
so join us and share your favorite
Southern Railway photograph.
