On Sunday, September 24, 1939, 78 years ago...
"The Goldenrod" Begins Operations The 3 Fairbanks Morris powered diesel motorcar sets were built by the St. Louis Car Company. These passenger sets mark the first use of diesel power on the Southern Railway. These sets were intended to be used in very light service areas, and consisted of a powered car and a coach.
