Prototype History:
Southern rostered a large fleet of low
sided gondolas. The model represents Pullman Standard 11 rib gondolas
rebuilt in 1945 (series 118750 – 119749, 288000 – 288249, and 316000 –
316249). These cars were in revenue service from 1945 till the 1970’s, and
maintenance service till the 1980’s.

Smoky Mountain Model Works developed
the kit with 3D CAD/Solid Modeling design and rapid prototyping
techniques, based on drawings from SRHA’s collection. The result is a
highly detailed kit with unparalleled accuracy.
The Kit Features:

weight, and a separate underfame casting

stake pockets and inverse dreadnaught ends
